I know some folks here have taken IBM 489. Can anyone help with the following?
1. Is there a book/tutorial targeted at Websphere 489 certification?
2. If not, is there a book/tutorial targeted at websphere administration?
3. If no books are available, what is the best self-study approach for taking 489 ?
Thanks

This probably ought to be an FAQ at some point.
In all seriousness, I don't know that IBM really has out any books that make for a good tutorial. I did find their Redbook on 4.0 a little bit helpful while preparing for this exam, but the greatest teacher was installing and "playing" with the application for a while (in my case, for a few weekends, as we were using 3.5 in the office). Experience really is the best preparation for the 489 exam.
But, seriously, pull down the Redbook from IBM's site and read it through - it was a fairly good study reference.

Used a free voucher to pass 489 test today...
Best thing would be to go through the tutorial given at http://www-3.ibm.com/software/webservers/appserv/doc/v40/ae/infocenter/was/0607.html

then read WAS 4.0 handbook beside playing with it for a while.
There were 56 questions total and you have to get 59% correct to pass.
7 sections covered: % of test covered
1) Architecture 9%
2) Installation and Configuraion 16%
3) Application Assembly and Deployment 11%
4) Security 21%
5) Maintenance and Performance Tuning 14%
6) Problem Determination and Troubleshooting 20%
7) Workload Management and Scalability 9%
Note the big chunks of percentage taken by 4 and 6.
Good Luck
