To Siu: Below are my scores 1.Design/Build reusable enterprise component 15%/87% 2.Design/Build web components .... 19%/70% 3.Develop clients that access enterprise com 8%/50% 4.Demo understanding of DB conectivity ... 4%/50% 5.Handle EJB Transaction issues 11%/83% 6.Develop J2EE components with WSAD 15%/62% 7.Assemble enterprise app and deploy ... 13%/71% 8.Use WAS tools to validate ............. 15%/62%
To Ravi: I am currently using Weblogic in my projects. I have taken SCJP and 486(OOAD) AND 483(Enterprise Connectibity) last year , and I feel this exam 158 is more difficult than 483. I spent one month to prepare this exam (3 weekends and at night) : 1) ejb-2_0-spec - this book is valuable in EJBs and transation section, and is the base of other section; I spend more than half time to read this book 2) servlet-2_3-spec - this book is valuable in web section 3) jsp-1_2-spec - this book is valuable in web section 4) sg246144-EJB development with Visual Age for JAVA - this book is valuable in WSAD section 5) sg246176-WebSphere hand book 15,16,18,19,21 - this book is valuable in WAS section 6) I didn't try any test Exam.
Good luck !

As you r already an Enterprise Developer--WAS, can you suggest me what you think would be my better bet after taking IBM-483? 486 or 158?? Thanks

Mano: I think you should take 158 first. Because 158 = 483 + WebSphere issues, You only need to read additional WebSphere books to prepare this exam. How to prepare it: 1) sg246144-EJB development with Visual Age for JAVA - this book is valuable in WSAD section 2) sg246176-WebSphere hand book 15,16,18,19,21 - this book is valuable in WAS section 3) review books that you prepared for 483 I think you should spend 3~4 weeks to clear 158. Good Luck!

I agree. Here's the link: http://ej-technologies/jprofiler - if it wasn't for jprofiler, we would need to
run our stuff on 16 servers instead of 3.
