Hello,
I've been programming Java for three years using Visual Age and WSAD as the development tool. Right now I'm preparing SCJP exam, but don't know where to go next. I mean, since I have some experience with WSAD should i tried exam 287 or better SCWCD to understand better Jsps and Servlets?
Thanks
Jorge

Another option that you may not be aware of is IBM's 286 exam. You can parlay your SCJP and the 286 test to become an IBM Certified Solution Developer. That's not quite as good as becoming and IBM Certified Enterprise Developer, but there are only 2 tests involved rather than 4.

Hi Jorge,
It depends on what you want to have.
If you consider to take IBM certs, you are going to tell people that you are not only know Java, but also know how to develop Java applications under WebSphere, as these certs are vendor-specific.
If you consider to obtain general knowledge (applicable to all application servers), you may consider SUN's exams, becos it all about the core concepts, without bounding to any vendor-specific products.
Nick.

So is it like u are almost getting all of the vendor-independent certs like Sun's and going to vendor-specific like IBM's? U r really aggessive in fetching a lot of certs... Once u told me that ur company pays for u, isn't it? That's great and go ahead, Nick... U will find more success in the future...
But as for me, I have to pay by myself and I'm just feeling some satisfaction and confidence with the certs I got...

Hi Ko Ko,

For IBM certs, I take it becos there is special offer from IBM that, each exam voucher costs only US 10.

U r really aggessive in fetching a lot of certs... Once u told me that ur company pays for u, isn't it?

Up till now, only Java certs and Oracle certs are paid by my company, I have to pay for the IBM tests.

Hi Maurice,
You can see the link below about the offer:
http://www-1.ibm.com/certify/news/20031118a.shtml
However, the offer ends at 31 Jan, 2004.

Really sorry for that.

Hi Maurice,
Last year, IBM provides such offer 2 times, as I know.
The 1st time was during June/July till Aug 31, 2003.
The 2nd time was during Nov till Jan 31, 2004.
I guess they may have such offer soon.
Dont give up!!! Chances are always coming!!!
Nick.
