When I think of getting Weblogic Certification, it is mostly about Application Server capabalities(J2EE deployment and related admin tasks).
I am not so much interested in the workshop(as an IDE?). So does exam cover and focus on these aspects of Weblogic?

Currently, BEA provides 3 categories of WL certifications:
BEA 8.1 Certified Developer;
BEA 8.1 Certified Administrator, and;
BEA 8.1 Certified Architect.
So far as I know, the product developed by Whizlabs is for the Developer track, and thus, I do believe that it will be focus on J2EE area more, just like what IBM's ICED does.
For the workshop or admin issuds, they maybe covered in the Administrator track.
You can find more informations about WL certifications from:
http://certification.bea.com/certification/index.jsp

Dear Nicholas thank you for the information. So the Wizlab Mock exam covers version 8 not 7, right?

Whizlabs should be focus on v7 only. They are working with v8, but I think they may need some more time to release the new version.
I havent used WL before, so cannot comment much. But, for WSAD v4 and v5, I saw the difference is, v4 focus on J2EE 1.2 while v5 focus on J2EE 1.3, and the upcoming v6 focus on J2EE 1.4. Thus, I believe that the same magic apply to WL. If the IDEs for different versions are quite similar but just the components differ, it may not be difficult to pick up, if you 1st learn v7 then v8.

Just to make it a little clearer, the 8.0 focusses more on WebLogic Workshop and 7.0 is more on J2EE lines covering most aspects of the application server, inclusing WebLogic specific features. Whizlabs provides the 7.0 simulator, which (from what you mentioned about non-IDE stuff)would be what you are looking for.
The Whizlasb 8.1 simulator will be tailored for the 8.1 exam and will be somewhat different in content from the 7.0. That follows from the fact that the 8.1 objectives are focussed more on development using Workshop.

Regards
Dilip
