Hi all, just passed 287 with 73% (pass is 62%). Have now passed all 4 exams for ICED (IBM Certified Enterprise Developer). Advice on preparation - read Howards book thoroughly.

Questions
Q1. How long does it take for IBM to send stuff (badge, cert, etc)?
Q2. How can I check that they received my fax for SCJP score?

Thanks,
Ray Gill

Congrad!!!

You did a cool job!

Q1. How long does it take for IBM to send stuff (badge, cert, etc)?

You need to wait for IBM to send you the e-certificate. After that, you can request a hardcopy for that. The whole process lasts for around 15-20 days.

Q2. How can I check that they received my fax for SCJP score?

You may send email to certify@us.ibm.com to confirm.

What's next?

Thanks Nick.

As for what to do next - I think I'll go for SCDJWS when its available (I missed the beta). Then I'll finish off parts 2,3 of SCEA before the end of the year. Could have a problem if this overlaps with the proposed new SCEA exam (do I retake part 1)?

For now - I'm catching up on my reading. I try to read 3, 4 tech books a week (UML Distilled, Core J2EE Patterns, etc). I'll do this for the next month before starting on SCDJWS.

Congratulations!

I will!

I have the exam on july 6th

Further tech Books I study on:
1) Yusuf, K. (2004) Enterprise Messaging using JMS and IBM Websphere. IBM Press
2) Alur, D. (2003) Core J2EE Patterns. Sun Microsystems Press
3) Dyson, P. (2004)Architecting Enterprise Solutions Patterns for High-capability Internet-based Systems. Wiley (just ordered)

Any opinion on one of more of these books?

Cor

Cor - best of luck on July 6th.

Haven't heard of the 1st and 3rd books on your list. The Dyson book interests me - anyone have any comments?

Core J2EE Patterns is a first rate book. One of my favourites.

I am waiting for SCEA part I beta as well.

The 1st book is newly released. It talks about how WAS (or WSAD) can be worked with WebSphereMQ for developing JMS applications.
