Hi

I am planning to take weblogic certified administrator 8.1.
I have already browsed weblogic website and couldn't find any mock exams .
My clarifications are
1.are there any mock exams available?
2.Is there any book suggested as a part of preparation for this exam?
3.Anyone who has cleared this exam can help me on this?
4.Are there any site or curriculum who train on this.

I am blur.Please help me.

This is my first certification exam and please help and guide me through.

Thanks
Sugi

I have just passed the BEA 8.1 Certified Administrator: System Administration exam. BEA Systems 0B0-104. My score is the passing score plus ten percent.
I studied the lecture and lab manuals from the BEA Educational services course WLS-A11(BEA WebLogic Server Administration 8.1)
Also all the stuffs in the system administration section on the
dev2dev WebLogic Server > e-docs WebLogic Server and WebLogic Express 8.1 Documentation website(except the topics that are not in the exam objective)
There is no mock exams nor any specific study materials designed for this exam whatsoever anywhere at all(online and offline).
only resources BEA is offering are http://certification.bea.com/certification/admin_certification_reqs.jsp

Also Does Anyone know how to request a physical Certificate from BEA?
thanks

Thanks Billy Tsai for your details. They would be definitely helpful.
Then regarding your physical certificate please read through the below
link to obtain certification.
http://certification.bea.com/certification/index.jsp.

This link should give you all the details.

Further my questions are
1. I have attended the training A11. Is that enough to read the lectures and also should i practice the lab manuals.

2.How was the questions in general?

3. Should i voraceiously read the documentation on their docs site too.

Please guide me. This exam is pretty important for me which will decide my
carrier further.

Looking for your answers. Thanks a lot.

The lecture and lab manauls are real physical manauls and we weren't given an electronic format of them.
And those manauls are definitely not enough and insufficent for the preparation of the exam, they dont cover the some topics in detail so the only way is to study all the documents on BEA's dev2dev website. Even if u studied the online documents hard out u r going to find some questions in the exam u can't answer because those weren't covered on any documents, i guess only real world WebLogic experience can help at that time.

Thanks Billy again. My objective is to just get through the examination.
I had already taken up the training on weblogic admin i have the manuals with which i read.

In addition can you let me know what are the topics that you exclusively covered. How long was your preparation time. Will three weeks be sufficient
cos i am planning to take the exam end of nov and i had never had a profile of administrator. Please council me.

In addition can you let me know your email id i wish to discuss with you in
detail. Hope you don't mind.

Thanks a lot

Hi

Duration of the Weblogic Certified Administrator 8.1 test on the link
http://certification.bea.com/certification/admin_certification_reqs.jsp
is 120 minutes.
But
if you click on the hyperlink "Study Guide" on the above page then duration is given 180 minutes.

Which one is correct?

Hi

The questions that you in the sample were more less same as you face the
exam.

They have concentrated on the basics 50% and scenario based questions
were 50%.
Please concentrate on the manuals and edocs and they are more than enough.

Then don't have focus much on the attributes (they are so many too)
There are some italic words in the manual which should be given importance.

The main areas of focus are Domain,Clustering,JMS,Performance tuning and Security.
I prepared for one month plus and with nearly 10 days on full time.

Hope all these info will be useful.

Thanks

Hi Rajesh

The manuals are really helpful and they have most of the questions. But since you don't have manuals it is ok.Please read through the edocs

Concentrate mainly on Clustering(EJB)
Domains and Node manager , Booting files (They have many questions in them)
Again i am telling don't concentrate on the attributes.

For security let me think and get back to you.

Tesai

I am also in the process of looking for a physical certificate i would find and then get back to you.

Thanks

Hi,

Im studying to get the certification in Weblogic 8.1 System Administrator.
There isnt simulators for that exam.
Then, Im studying using Whizlabs bea for Weblogic 7.0
But, I notice that many question are about ejb, like specifics tag used in weblogic-ejb-jar.xml
I would like to know if in the new certification, the focus continues stronger in ejb?

Thanks,
Biba

Hi,

Today i have cleared Bea Weblogic Server 8.1 System Adminstration Exam with Score of 96%.

Here is my experience:-
1) The emphasis was on Clustering that is Web Clustering and EJB Clustering.
2) Out of 54 Questions 2 questions were on Drag and Drop.
3) All questions were Scenario based so it needs clear understanding of Fundamentals(Hands on EJB Clustering will definately prove to be a biggest advantage.)
4) Some questions were very simple and fundamental like relating Heuristic Transactions with their definations and all.
5) Last but not the least i spent nearly 5 weeks to prepare for the exam.

Thanks for all guidance that i gained from the earlier posts in this Topic.

Thanks!!!

it is not required for you to attend the official Oracle/BEA weblogic training to be able to obtain the certification, as long as you have the right study materials you can manage this certification on your own.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
