Guys,

I am planning to take IBM UML 486 exam soon. I have Martin fowler, Head First Design Patterns and Whizlabs preparation kit. Would this much material be enough to pass the test? I don't have larman's book but have HF design patterns book. would appreciate any advise.

Thanks,

Vicky ,
I am also preparing for IBM 486 . I think lerman's book is must for 486 . HFDP is all together different from lerman's book .

BTW , Can you share that wizlabs test with me ... or is it possible that two person can use same test ... I don't know at all about this ...

Hi

I think that it means piracy if you decide to share software with another users without Whizlabs authorization.

They are doing a good job with their tests. Buying their product is the only way to keep them on business.

I would like to know which version of UML does the IBM OOAD test 486 follow.
IBM website suggests second version of both the books but the third editions are already available it seems. Any clarification on this is much appretiated.

If you do a search in this forum, it is not difficult to see lots of discussion on this issue.

Anyway, IBM 486 is based on UML 1.x, and thus, the 2nd edition will be fine. The 3rd edition focus on comparing UML 1.x and UML 2.0, and thus, I would recommend you to read 2nd edition.

HFDP focus on the design pattern used for system development. However, what IBM 486 wants to test us is the OOAD knowledge, and thus, HFDP only covers a small portion in this area.

You might need to have Larman's book because it discusses system development lifecycle in details.

As what Americo said, please do not try to do anything that violates the copyright.

Did anyone take the UML test yet?
What books/study materials you used? As of now, I am only focusing on UML Distilled 2nd Edition...any other study material?

Any advise will be appreciated.

You can read Larman's Applying UML and Patterns 2nd edition.
