Quoted form IBM "The IBM SOA Foundation is an integrated, open standards based set of software, best practices and patterns that is designed to provide you what you need to get started with SOA. The IBM SOA Foundation includes an integration architecture, best practices, patterns, and SOA scenarios to help simplify the packaging and use of IBM open standards-based software."

what are the advantages and points of having IBM's SOA certification and how is it different from having both SCDJWS and IBM Certified Developer for XML & Related Technologies?

additional info
important things for the exam -
knowledge of SOA concepts & design.
knowledge of webservices standards (quite some questions on tht) -
WS-I, WS-I profile, WS-Addressing
Enterprise Security & WebServices Security, products used for
security implementations
sorry guys i didnt prepare any notes for this. just read through the
courses.
for an overview i did go through the podcast on ibm site
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/podcast/websphere/ws-
soa6fnd1.html (there are more podcasts i think in all 8)
they is some amount of marketing message but these are pretty ok
there were a few developerworks articles on SOA design which i dont
remmeber now but will post at later stage.

Hello there! I've taken this test last week, unfortunatelly I did not pass got 38/59 needed 39/59.

I've studied both SW718 and 719 plus IBM SOA Foundation and found that they are not enough.

I had some bad experience with questions related to Tivoli security products (Access Manager and Identity Manager)

Also, some "strange questions" like: which of the statements is MOST true. In our job is hard to justify that something is true, now, most true was too much too me, I guess it depends on point of view.

An example:

SOA Can not be accomplished by other technologies but Webservices, I've marked false, IBM says its true (???)

Also one question that gave me the creeps was one regarding performance of Process Server...

So close, yet so far away, but hey, that's life...

Maybe I get a better score next time

regards

Dears Friends
I already cleared the Test in the begin of July (maybe I was ones of the first) but I not sure if I'll need to pass again. Because they say that who passed in the pre-assest (or something like that) will can buy the voucher with 50% off.

Hey guys,

There are 4 Redbooks listed in the Training Resources, which ones are good for 665; I am taking the exam on December 13, so don't have time to go through all.

Secondly, can somebody email me the SW719 course.

Appreciate your response and time.

Thanks

Looks like nobody was interested in test 665 since the end of October...
Now, I an a new guy in the town.

I do not ask where to start. My question is how those of you who passed the test consider it with regard to SOA in general and to SOA RM standard in particular?

When I started to read recommended IBM articles and SW17/18 I found them obsolete or deliberately re-directed to impress IT management while SOA RM requires thinking in business. Plus, I am looking for a prompt on a level of details the test requires. For all last years I have not met a person (neither in the US nor in the UK) who knew WS-* standards in the details. For example, I know that WS-I Profile defines requirements for WebServices compatibility and there are tools from IBM and others that validate a WS compatibility with the standard. What is in the standard like what criteria of compatibility - I have do not know and I am not sure I need to know for successful SOA design (unless I am in the SOA tool business).

So, please, help me out with the details.

Cheers,
- Mike

Did anybody take a $5 training 'sample test'? How it relates to the real one?

Will it help (in case of having a shot time to prepare) if I would take several 'sample tests' assuming I have some knowledge already? (I mean, if these are real but a little simplified tests, it is possible to learn a lot just from them, yes, paying a little more for the preparation)

Thank you,
- Michael

Hi,

I am a Microsoft Developer (MCSD) who's interested in becoming an Architect. I am focussing on SOA and dont want to go through the Microsoft upgrade cycle anymore. Looking at the content covered by Exam 665, I find it useful to accomplish my goals. However, had a few doubts in mind.
1) How will I be able to apply the skills after aqcuiring IBM Certified SOA Solution Designer?
2) Is there any other track that somebody would recommend for me?

I also have similar interest. I don't much like to have have certification that is for a specific product (and version!).

IMHO, SOA itself, as a priciple, is not tied to any technology/product/platform. And also, when i look at the test 665 objectives, they cover all the aspects of a SOA effort and I think it will really be a learning experience. So, I am going for it!

But, we probably have to accept that it is IBM's cert, so there will be objectives related to their products. I think this is how we can appreciate the different products strengths/weaknesses.

I also saw BEA's , but they are still working on the final Phase or something.

This is my $0.02.

Guys who already have this certification may have better comments.

I am starting to map the test objectives with the available materials.

I wonder how you guys managed materials for objectives in:

Section 2 - SOA Assessment and Analysis
&
Section 4 - SOA Implementation

I appreciate your advice in this.

Thanks a lot.

You need to have a real experience in SOA to crack this one.. Also the redbooks does really helps to understand the features of various of IBM products..

Best of luck for all the ones who are trying for this exam..

Hi Guys,

I am a business analyst at an IT firm and am currently working on building a ACORD (Insurance Industry Based Standards) based implementation of services on the IBM SOA Foundation (Websphere Modeler, Websphere Integration Developer (Process server/Monitor).

Based on my interaction with our e-Architects , I feel the need to be more hands on and so am contempalting taking the IBM SOA certification.

I just needed to understand the difference between IBM test 664 (SOA Fundamentals) and IBM test 665 (Advanced SOA).
Is there someone here who has given test 664,
Most of the material for preparation for the 2 exams are similar though I guess the level of toughness will be more in 665. But I just needed to know if a guy with business orientation with a reasonable understanding of technology would be able to comprehend and clear 665. How much time do you think one would need to prepare?

Look forward to your feedback.

Hi all,

Can any one share about multi choice question pattern in this exam. Will there be any guide to select how many number of choices make correct answer...?

Thanks
