Hello friends,
Just needed some guidance for IBM 486
I am preparing from following books
1) Design Patterns by GoF
2) UML Distiller 2nd edition - fowler
3) UML and Patterns 3rd Edition - Larman
Do these books cover the Exam objectives.
Can any one who has passed this exams put some light on
types/areas of Questions which are most difficult in this exam.
Also regarding Practice Tests, any thing available.
Please guide?

Hai,
Last month I cleared 486.
I prepared for 1 month 5 hrs per day.
I studied following:
1)UML Distiller 2nd edition - fowler
2)UML and Patterns 3rd Edition - Larman
3)Bala's Guide: http://guide.zepho.com/version1/
You must read Bala's above mentioned guide, without this I could not have cleared the exam.
MZ's 3 quizes are very much helpful.
You just go thru the forums and resources of the following link: http://objectsbydesign.com/tools/certification.html#resources
I strongly believe that this exam is 100% worth, eventhough it is going to be discontinued.

I passed a couple years ago with only Fowler and Larman. I read all of Fowler and the first dozen chapters of Larman.

Amit,
I passed the exam last week. If you want to make efficient use of your time I would skip the Design Patterns book. All you need is in the Fowler and Larmen books.

Which chapters of Larman are necessary for the exam? Should one study all of them? Is it possible to skip a few chapters? I coudn't find a reliable answer to this question.
In a previous post somebody claimed that only the first 12 chapters are to study but I hardly believe it.
Any indication would be appreciated. 486 is going to be discontinued at the end of the year but the last available test is going to be on November 7th, so I'm really in a hurry to finish my preparation and it would be very useful to skip a few chapters.
