I have completed SCJP 1.4 and SCWCD1.4 certifications but still i am not very confident about my programming skills.Instead of taking higher level certifications like SCJD i would like to take some basic java/j2ee certifications only that are provided by say ibm,soa etc doing which i can improve working skills.
if any body has any info on this please reply.

I have not tried it myself, but http://javablackbelt.com/ seems a fun way to improve one's skills a bit.

Get a tooling exam under your belt.

If you use IBM tools, look at test 256, the web development with IBM's Rational Application Developer (IRAD). The questions are very heavily Servlet/JSP related. I bet with just the knowlege of the Servlet & JSP API, you'd know enough to come close to a pass.

I think a tool based certification looks very good on a resume. That and a database cert really demonstrates that you've got well rounded skills.
