Rational Method Composer installation

Hi All

I am preparing for IBM 833 Exam and as per the comments on this forum i got to know that i need Rational Method Composer to get some study material.

I downloaded the Rational Method Composer (IBMIM_RMC_win32.exe) from IBM website, but when i am trying to install it, it hangs and installation does not complete. I was wondering if any body else faces the same problem. I am trying to install it on a Windows XP machine. I restarted the machine also after the downloaded got completed.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi Guys

I figured out the problem. I was trying to install the software from my office network and it was not able to connect. I tried from home and it installed properly.

I am unable to install RMC, i was able to download it but i am facing some problem while installation, i tried on my home network also but was getting the same error. Can you give me the link from where you have downloaded the software and the process for installation.

I think there is only once place to download RMC (IBMIM_RMC_win32.exe) and that is IBM website. I used the link
"http://www-01.ibm.com/software/awdtools/rmc/" to download. As you mentioned that you were able to download it but not install it, the problem seems to be in the installation process and not the downloaded exe.

I faced the same problem while installing it in the office. The installation hanged every time in tried from office. I was not sure what was the reason, but i tried at home and it installed properly. I think installation needs some extra files which it tries to download from internet. Make sure you dont have any firewall etc setup at your home. Disable any firewall etc and try again. It may be possible that your home antivirus system is blocking the connection from the installation to internet. Check that too.

Thanks for reply, i am still getting the following error while instatllation

"The contents of the file cannot be unpacked. The executable you are attempting to run has been corrupted. Please obtain another copy of the file, verify its integrity and try again "

Were you getting the same error. I am getting this error while attempting to install from home also, and even i checked the firewall settings.
Please need your help.

I am not sure why you are getting file corrupted error. When i downloaded, the download was OK but installation was hanging. I am sure you must have tried downloading the file again from home. If not then try again and see if it helps.

I am not sure what else i can suggest.
