I took the test today and passed with 65%. Three days ago I caught a cold, so yesterday, I was thinking to postpone the test to next week. In the end, I decided to still take the test today. Feeling soft, I thought good rest is the best preparation. During the exam, the first half only took me ~30 minutes. But in the second half, I slow down significantly, it took me ~50 minutes. So in the end, I just have 10 minutes left to check my answers. I started from question #1, stopped at ~#39, then time run out. That makes me a little nervous when heading to the Jury Verdict. Overall, I think the test is not as hard as I imaged before. The reason I say this is: I felt I understood what the question is about, knew where the tricks come from. I remembered I read a post before from Javaranch describing the final green light. Now I know what that is about. There is a two-column horizontal Pareto chart in the end, the top column is blue, representing the passing score, which is 65% in this case. The bottom column's color depends on whether you pass or fail, I suppose it is red if you fail. After the exam, the first thing I saw is the "GREEN", then I saw "Congratulation". Since I realized I will not have enough time to check all the answers. I began to feel bad, but I still thought it will be a close call. With only ~2 minutes to go, I was working on possibly the last battle, then I suddenly got a feeling: this will be the crucial point of the entire exam: if I fail, then this is where I made my last mistake. So I got energized again and eventually made some change to my answer. Now here are some tips I can give: 1) Exhibit repeats itself, no need to read them all; 2) One question asks about validation of XML signature; 3) ~3 questions taken directly from 140&141 samples tests; 4) One question asks about the leaf node in DOM; 5) One question ask about SAX's startElement()&startAttribute() ; ...... That is all I can remember. A lot of thanks to all the people in Javaranch. And good luck with everything! [ March 09, 2002: Message edited by: Don Liu ]
