Well i passed 141 with 81%. Not bad considering I had to hold down a full time job, stealing time here and there to rivise. The exam itself was tricky in places and the first 30 minutes did panic me a little. Skipping quite a few questions. But after taking my time to review them everything was more clear.
For preperation I only used Professional XML 2nd Edition and whizlabs. The captures specified by javaranch whould almost definately inlude the Xpointer and XLink stuff and maybe even some of the XQuery as I did get some questions on that.
Reading some posts just before I took the exam did dent my confidence about whizlabs as some people really hate it. But to their credit it did help me alot with the scenarios in the exam plus if you are taking this exam then you should be able to notice the odd errors in the whizlabs exam. On the whole I think that it benefited me a great deal by trawling through previous posts(and i mean ALL OF THEM!!) and even looking at the experiences of the people who have taken the exam and have passed or failed.
One question I have is what next?
I have done the Java programmers and web compontent developer and now XML....
Thanks for all your help. G

Probably depends on your interests and what is going on at work. Maybe the next goal shouldn't be getting another cert but something else like learning a new language or technology.
Good luck in whatever you pursue!

Congratulations John!
I would say you choice is right...Just go for another new language or technology while you continue using the Java...
For me, first of all, I will continue study and apply deeper Java technologies and am studying Web Services-related topics and working on Microsoft certificates like MCAD/MCSD/MCDBA.
Happy studying...

Congratulations John for your success!
Many thanks for your appreciation about our exam simulator!! I know that few months back it was not much effective in contributing to the success of XML aspirants like you. But over the last few months, it has undergone significant changes and the feedback we've received validates it.
It would be great if you could mail the "odd errors" you mentioned at feedback@whizlabs.com.
Regarding your future options: I'll suggest either of SCEA or UML certification. You may also want to wait for SCBCD exam to be released by Sun.
Best wishes,
Pradeep

The book "Professional XML Schemas" appears to be out-of-print.
Any suggestions for a best alternative book on the same subject
that would provide equivalent preparation for 141 ?

You may use Skonnard's book (Essential XML) which is free download and a small sized book and also download Schema Tutorial from xfront.com. Both cover material sufficient for the exam.
