Hi all:
I just cleared my scwcd and now I am thinking either go for
1. IBM XML or
2. SCBCD
Eventually I want to clear both. I need advise from you guys and my question is that which one should I start next??
Thanks in advance.

Hi carl,
I was facing the same problem and I took up scbcd and i am preparing for XML now..
I personally feel that this is a good way to go, as XML is curenlty being used by J2EE applications as well as by .Net.
If you want to specialize in J2EE, you can start of with SCBCD (finish teh core part of J2EE - EJB's ) and tehn go for XML!!
The people who I had spoken with before I made up teh decision, told me that you would NOT be working very deeply in XML (as long as you know the basics, it is more than enough ) for most of the J2EE applications. (It might differ though for certain applications!!)
But it is good to have a certification in XML also
so thats my two cents on choosing your decision !!!
So , SCBCD and then XML would be my suggestion!!!
Good luck

Thanks Hari. I am on my way to SCBCD. I had same question but some how decided on SCBCD (partly more books on EJB & it's core of J2EE) I think SCBCD will be good choice for programmer who wants to work in J2EE.

I think XML gives you more value and a great combination of skills.

Thanks for all your's advices,
I finally choose to go for SCBCD instead of XML becasue:
1. Cheaper to study because I only need to buy 1 book
2. I like the authors of the book becasue I used their book to prepare for my SCJP.
3. It seems to me that XML would takes me more time to study

Carl,
I think you made a good decision because you just completed SCWCD and you are in Java/J2EE mood and that will help you continue in preparing for the SCBCD. Don't change gears in the mid way!!
Best of luck,

Hi guys, I too just cleared the scwcd certification and I'm having trouble deciding what to do next... I was wondering how hard is the xml certification in comparasion of the scwcd one? Is it much more studying time? Do we have to learn lots things by heart?

Also, is there a book that covers all the xml certification objectives or do I have to buy more than one?

Thanks!

Definetely harder than the scwcd and more studiying time than scwcd.

Dpending upon yopur experience with xml, the study time will vary.

if you are completely new to XML, then 3-4 hrs everyday for 2 months will suffice!!

Unlike other certifcations you DONT have to learn a lot of things by heart (of course u have to know the API of certain technologies !!).. Most of teh questions reuire you to choose one technology over the other (within xml technologies) for solving a problem ..so its more of a real-hands-on problem solving rather than just memorizing the API or the syntax

"professional XML" second edition is enough iof you are planning to just clear the exam

Hope this helps
