Hi Venky,
These are the books and links which are good.

1.XML Specification guide is a very good book to know the finer details of XML.
2. Processing XML with Java by Eliot Rusty. Very good coverage of SAX/DOM.

3.www.zvon.org (XML Schema ,XSL)
http://www.zvon.org/index.php?nav_id=tutorials&mime=html
4.www.w3schools.com
5. XML Bible by Eliot Rusty (XPointers,XLink,XPath,XSL-FO).
The XML Bible, 2nd edition
Chapter 17: XSL Transformations
Chapter 18: XSL Formatting Objects
Chapter 19: XLinks
Chapter 20: XPointers
Chapter 24: Schemas

I think if u do all these tutorials and read these books you should be fine.

You can check out teh mock exams at

http://www.javaranch.com/xml/XMLexamList.jsp

2-3 months !!! If you know schema and XSl i would say 1-2 months.

Also if you have worked a lot in XML related technologies, you can reduce teh time even furtehr

Unlike, SCJP thre are a lot of scenario base questions in this exam. So you have to have an indepth understanding of all teh XMl related tchnologies to be able to choose one over the other !!!

To get a hang of what teh questions would be like, take shashanks mock exam at

http://www.javaranch.com/xml/shashank/IBM141Mock.html

you can just take it without preparation to get a hang of what teh exam would look like !!!
Good luck for the exam

Arvind,
I had 4 years XML experience and I put in just over a months time for preparation.
One important point to note. The mocks exams are very much simpler then the real exam.
Real exam has very lengthy scenario questions so recommend if u get some good XML mock cert programs like WhizLabs. I think that would be the best. I heard WhizLab questions are more difficult.
You need to know a very indepth knowledge of the XML technologies and when one is preferred over the other or when to apply which technology.
Best of luck for your preparation

True WhizLab is expensive but what I heard is that it is the best mocks.
Harder then the real exam. So at least u would know what to expect.
I scored very good scores in all free mocks b4 the exam 84% and above. But I wasnt expecting the kind of test I did and I scored below in the actual test . Mainly the scenario type of questions u need a good practice and u wouldnt get those questions any where free.
