I'd like to put forth a question to you folks who have been working on this and will highly appreciate your input.
My background is clinet side and server side java programming [ jsp , servlets, beans]. My exposure to xml is I know the basic concepts and can edit the xml file. Obviosly I don't know XSLT ..

Usually while trying to learn a new subject I try to keep the certification in mind and aim for it, it maked me focussed. [ The intention here is to learn the subject in a course like fashion not to claim experience or expertise]

The point of my quetion by doing this certification where is my leverage, what kind of jobs can one get, basically job role, would it apply to a java programmer for 5 years my limited knowledge was good to get by.
Or is this certification mostly for web services.

you will not get you any role specific job as such with this exam especially web services ..

It deals with the very basics of webs services ..

Also the exam is not tied to any particular technology like Java, Microsoft ..(ahh the beauty of xml )

It is a good exam if you want to know about all the XML technologies and see how they can be used to solve problems in applications being developed!

if you want to concentrate on web services, you should be taking the Sun exam for Web Services,Web Services Certification (SCDJWS) (as u have experience working in Java technologies)

But it is anice learning experience and you get to know all the technologies and also the titile "IBM certified Solution developer ( XML and related technologies)

Hope this helps !
