Web Services Experts Wanted for Blueprint Survey
Be a part of the next industry leading Java Developer Certification and set the skill standards for Web Services Development!
The Sun Microsystems Certification team is creating a NEW industry certification exam - "Sun Certified Java Web Services Developer for the Java 2 Platform". This certification is for Developers using Java technology components, including those provided as part of the Java 2,
Enterprise Edition 1.4, to build new Web services applications or expose legacy applications as web services that are both portable and interoperable.
If you are an expert in web services development using Java technologies, this is your opportunity to get involved in the creation of a new industry leading certification exam. Specifically we are looking for developers who are using Java technology components and APIs to create new web
services or expose legacy applications as web services. Experience with developing web services for the J2EE 1.4 platform is extremely desirable.
Experts are asked to participate in the following exam creation phase:
1. Blueprint Survey
This is to determine the right mix of test sections and testing objectives via our web-based Blueprint Survey tool. This tool specifies the testing objectives and how many questions should be produced for each testing objective according to importance, frequency and difficulty. From here,
the certification weightings are calculated. This weighting aligns industry expectations with the developer skills to be validated.
Experts: 50-80
When: March 15-22, 2004
Duration: 45-60 minutes
Where: Internet web survey
Help Needed: Simply provide check box and one-line comments on-line.
Incentives
Individuals - All expert participants will receive a free voucher to take the Beta exam for this new certification. The Beta examination will be available April 2004 at Prometric testing centers worldwide and will take approximately 3-4 hours to complete. If you PASS the Beta exam, you
will receive your certificate, enamel lapel pin, wallet identification card and the Certified Java Technology Professional logo. Note: You must have passed the Sun Certified Programmer certification (any version).

Hi Evelyn,
I am interested in this exam, however, I have less experiences.
Could I know the prelimiary objectives now, so that I can have more time to prepare for?
Many thanks.

Hi Balaji,

Any chance to participate without this certification. ?

I dont think there is chance for taking SCJWSD without SCJP.
If you are an University student, and your Univesity joins SUN's SAI program, you can enjoy a 75% off discount for taking SCJP 1.4.
Hope this help.
Nick.

YES. I will have the IBM 486 on 14 March, and IBM 287 on 21 March. I prepared for SCBCD is because it is part of IBM 484 exam.
After Mar 31, I will focus on SCJWSD.
Nick.

Hi Evelyn ,
I was involved in the initial web services discussion and conference call , I lost touch with the group when I moved from florida to Toronto .
I would like to get back into the process and I would certainly like to get a FREE BETA Voucher for the WEB SERVICES exam .
Can you send me the link for the survey , so that I can get back into the loop ??

Hi Evelyn,
I am interested.

Though I don't consider myself as a top Webservices expert, I was responsible for webservices part of a project, where we transmitted embedded MS-Office and other Documents from Lotus Domino to another maschine with Tomcat & Sun Webservice Pack. The tomcat apps offered kind of convert-to-pdf, archiving and search services.

Know axis, too, and right now after nearly having passed all those IBM Enterprise Developer certifications, I am interested and do have energy to put some emphasis to deepen my existing theoretical knowledge in webservices.
regards Axel

The beta hasn't started yet and we don't know when it starts.
However, you can be sure that we'll announce any information we have in this forum.

Hi Jean,

You know, in a company, with a salary, some duties, with customers and so on so forth

If I need to take exams, my company allows me to leave sharply on time for 1 week, so that I can deploy myself into the study process everyday .

Half of the statement is true. The beta hasn't started yet, however, the beta period will be 29 April 2004 to 23 May 2004.
Details for exam dates and objectives can be refered to:

Hope this help.

Folks, we have a new forum for the Web Services Certification. Even though this post is now obsolete, I'm moving it over there so that it can benefit to people taking the exam
Please continue the discussion there. Thank you
