are IBM-XML(141) and Sun Web Services exam comparable? Do they have more
or less similar objective or they are two entirely differnt things

I dont think IBM 141 is similar to SCDJWS, as they focus on different areas.

141 focus on XML technology alone, while SCDJWS focus on Web Services, which is one of the applications that make use of XML. It covers a bit of XML basic, but it focus more on how to create SOAP messages that fits to the WS-I Basic Profile 1.0, using those JAX-RPC, JAXP, JAXR, JAXB, etc APIs to manipulate the messages.

I guess, 288 is much closer to SCDJWS than 141... But I missed the opportunity to take 288...

BTW, Nick, when will you take 288? After SCDJWS and SCBCD?

I am still planning. The current plan is:

23 May: SCDJWS
30 May: 1z1-036

No plan later.

At first, I have rescheduled it to 6 Jun, however, I need to have another business trip to Tokyo on 31 May till 7 Jun, and thus, I need to reschedule it back to 23 May.

Oh, what a rush, Nick! So u r taking it on 23rd... How many times have u read Richard's book? I think reading two times would be enough for you to take the exam...

All the best, Nick... Hope u will do well on coming Sunday....

I have skipped the XML syntax for UDDI, as somehow I think they are quite similar. I focus on JAXP, JAX-RPC and JAXR APIs, I have only read the book once, and I am now reading the blueprint for design pattern questions, and J2EE security for security part.

I hope I can pass it.

Best luck to you as well.

Thanks for your replies. I am sorry for being sounding a novice but
I am a novice.
I am one who came from the mainframe world to client server world and
now trying to break into J2EE world and thought of getting all the
required certifications....I passed SCJP and SCWCD recently. SCBCD and IBM XML are lined up for next months for which I am preapring now. I just wanted to know if web service are mere extension of XML or its entirely different thing.
I think I am pretty clear with your replies now. Thanks a lot !
