I have just noticed that SCDJWS simulator is more expensive than any previous Sun Exam Simulators, except SCEA. Is it because the product is newest or the difficulty of the exam is higher than others?
Or does it depend on the loyalty fee for authors...
Just curious...

As Valentin is the author, I believe that it is worth for that.
I have just noticed that SCDJWS simulator is more expensive than any previous Sun Exam Simulators, except SCEA. Is it because the product is newest or the difficulty of the exam is higher than others? I'm certainly not the best person to answer this question, one of Whizlabs' representative will drop by and answer this question. All I can say is that this certification encompasses tons of specification material and there was a tremendous amount of information to wade through in order to create quality questions. That took a little time, and as you know "time is ..." [Fill in the gap]
Or does it depend on the loyalty fee for authors... You meant royalty, didn't you? My loyalty is free of charge

Really? I do agree with Ko Ko that your loyalty is high costing.

What I meant it that my loyalty towards people is not at all dependent on how much they are ready to pay

I think the amount of information and the diffculty level involved in the information makes the product costlier.

Hi Ranchers,
We have priced this exam simulator at $89.95 as the sheer amount of efforts required to come up with SCDJWS was much more as compared to other exams such as SCJP/ SCWCD/ SCBCD. In case of SCDJWS our authors went through all the specifications before they could start creating questions for the exam. The amount of time required to go through just relevant specification was no less that 2 months.
I hope this answers the query by KO KO fairly well. Anyways, let us participate - there are 4 free exam simulators to be won. [ January 19, 2005: Message edited by: Jitin Narang ]

I got it! Like Val said above, Time is .... So now we can conclude that the price of the product depends on the time that the authors spent in generating the questions... The more specifications it needs to refer, the much more time the authors needs, consequently the higher the price of the product...
Thanks a lot for clarify my doubt, guys...

In the marketing sense, there is less demand for SCDJWS exam simulator compared with other SUN exams. The higher price of the product is needed to cover the cost as well as earn money.

I have no doubt the fact that there is no competition allows a higher price, also (shift of the ol' supply & demand curve).
Anyway...Whiz normally make good products..and with the 2 ranchers' help I am sure they had good input.
My only question is how much testing has been done on this product? (especially given we are likely to be the first ones to use the product)
did you use many beta testers? if not, would you like one?
Cheers

You might find in that thread that WhizLabs may use reviewers to test both typos and technical correctness of the simulator, like SCMAD simulator...
I was one of the reviewers for WhizLabs SCMAD simulator... Even though I found many many typos and technical errors and informed them about that, the final product that I received still contains some of them... But I'm not sure, if they are fixed now or not... Sometimes the problems might be during the time the questions are integrated to the simulator... In this case, authors have no reposibility, if authors are not the ones who integrate their questions into the simulator...
So IMO, the product reviewing process is really important... I think they will come up with this process soon...

I confirm that Whizlabs' authors *just* develop the knowledge base in text format and do not take part (unfortunately) in the integration process. We go through several technical reviews focusing on both content and typographical mistakes and after that Whizlabs technical people get to integrate the content into the simulator.

You can wait for the new book "SCWSD Sun Certified Web Services Developer for Java Study Guide " by Mehran Habibi, Terry Camerlengo. It will be available in March if there is no delay.

That's a very good news. I love Max's book! Especially his excellent SCJD for J2SE 1.4, which helped me to crack SCJD!!!
