Suggestion SCDJWS or SCEA ?

Hi Ranchers,
I need a suggestion over here. I'm little confused whether to take SCDJWS or SCEA. I gone thro' this forum and it seems SCDJWS yet to mature. I got little bit nervous over here, because if i complete SCDJWS right now and if it becomes outdated soon (i mean, it reaches next level) all my effort will consider to be a waste and i'm doing fine with current job and all i'm focusing for future (atleast next year). Could you provide your valuable suggestion, whether i've to go with SCEA or SCDJWS?

Thanks in advance,
Nathan.

SCDJWS is new (july 04) and related to J2EE 1.4. So it's not gonna be outdated soon.
As far as SCEA is concerned, well, it is still J2EE 1.2 and will be one day (but When ???)replaced by a newer version. So maybe you should better wait for this one....

Just curious, are you THE Raj Nathan from Sybase ?? I guess not, but just in case....

Raj,
If you want to go for one of them soon, I would strongly suggest you to go for SCDJWS first... Then after SCEA is upgraded, it would be better to go for SCEA next...

But well, it depends... If your job is nothing related to designing and architecting the J2EE applications, why waste and go for SCEA? But if you are in such role, SCEA would really benefit for you...

No, SCEA present version does not include Web Services objectives.
But as Ko Ko said, a lot of SCDJWS objectives are related to design and architecture. So it is definitively a good step toward next SCEA certification

Jean,
I think you mistyped the word "SCEA" with "SCDJWS" in above quote... SCEA contains a lot of design and architecture-related topics, not SCDJWS...

Nope Ko Ko, it was not a typo.
Even if SCDJWS is not specifically related to architecture, the SCDJWS exam contained many Web Services design and architecture questions (at least the beta exam. Is the current exam different ?)
But of course, SCEA is far more dedicated to architecture

OIC..

I am talking about the J2EE application design and architecture, while you are on design and architecture related to web services...

The current exam should be the same as the beta...

HI Raj,
I would recommend to go for SCEA first. SCEA probably has better oveall value (IMO). You will get an opportunity to design a real business problem. SCDJWS will help you to learn internal details about web services. If you are doing heavy web services implementation, SCDJWS can help. SCDJWS is a "developer" level certification where as "SCEA" is an architect level certification. NOte that SCEA costs $550 where as SCDJWS costs $150.
