MZ's Guide is very good and tailored towards the SCDJWS test. I took the test this week and can't think of any question that was out of MZ's Guide. RMH book is also good, but it was hard for me to understand the UDDI and JAXR form RMH. There are some simple diagrams in MZ's guide which helped me a lot to understand the concepts easily.
It is the first item in the 'Some Recommended Reading' section on the JavaRanch SCDJWS Links page.
The title is "Designing Web Services with the J2EE(TM) 1.4 Platform : JAX-RPC, SOAP, and XML Technologies".

Mikalai needs to step-up and finish his Web Services Guide and the Quiz, and package them in a book. I gladly paid him $12.00 for it and I would have paid 3 times as much for a finished book with ALL the topics addressed and the Quiz section expanded. As it is, I am using his Guide and Quiz extensively to prepare for this certificate. Bharat

MZ's guide is very good but it assumes that we have a good exposure to WebServices .Is there any Specifications by Sun Microsystems which can give us an indea so that we understand MZ's book thoroughly I reas first chapter but found diff to memorise the concepts Does any one knows if MZ's guide is good for noivices also :roll:

The thing is that McGraw-Hill site has not been updated yet... As Max has mentioned above, we need to wait a bit for the book to be published... Well, according to Amazon, the book will be available through its site on July 29, 2005.... So let's just wait for that...

Amazon replied that they actually have stocks of the study guide now, but they just can't sell them until the official publication date, which is July 29, 05

I remember it being announced for end of March 2005, now its "predicted" for February 2006, so there's plenty of time for further delays. They haven't gotten around to updating the cover image from SCWSD to SCDJWS and to reflect the new authors. SCDJWS only covers WS-I Basic Profile 1.0a - by the time that guide comes out it may be time to update the SCDJWS. And there is no guarantuee that the guide will be good, complete and comprehensive. So it seems the SCDJWS Links and especially Val's Specs-Objectives Mapping are the way to go. So I wouldn't wait unless you have something better to do.
Frankly, judging by the few SCDJWS score reports on the "Sun Certifcation Results" forum, I'm starting to wonder whether there is actually a large enough market to make a guide like this viable.

Personally, I don't think so, especially as there is no guarantee that it is going to be useful. However, a few people seem to be interested in the guide.

The second one doesn't have anything to do with the SCDJWS - but is does show the application of one of the second generation standards: WS-Choreography. Web services choreography in practice.
Forget this book. Have you noticed this phrase "copyright: 2007"? This book won't be published. Go ahead with other materials instead of this future-released book.

I think its standard practice for books published later than September to carry the copyright of the following year. At least they didn't wait to the last minute to let the world know.
Anyway, I wasn't suggesting that anyone should wait. Regularly posters are eager to get their hands on this book and under the impression that release is imminent. I thought I'd bump this thread to remind everybody of its "long history".
Anybody interested in this thread should have good look at the materials already mentioned, including Mikalai Zaikin's SCDJWS Study Guide and of course the SCDJWS Links in general. [ February 09, 2006: Message edited by: Peer Reynders ]
