I feel that this certification is very different from the others. I think this certification contains more XML and architectural issues than Java code. What is everyone else's opinion on this???

Since actual development tools, WebLogic and JDeveloper for example tend to wrap a web service around a Java class that you define, how much practical knowledge do we gain from doing this certification???

I mainly do certification to validate my knowledge and learn about a new area. The SCBCD was very good to do, but I am starting to wonder about the value of doing this one. What does everyone else think???

MCPD (Enterprise Application Developer, Windows Developer, Web Developer - .NET 2.0), MCTS (Windows Apps, Web Apps and Disbributed Applications - .NET 2.0), MCITP (Database Developer & Business Intelligence Developer - SQL Server 2005), MCAD, MSCD.net, SCJP 5, SCWCD 1.4, SCBCD, SCMAD, SCDJWS, SCJA

You also need to know how Java handles XML messages, registry, and how to develop Java endpoints. Of course, the core of Web Services is XML, and thus, you might need to have a clear understanding of XML framework.

Nowadays, IDEs can wrap everything, not only XML/Web Services, but also EJBs, Servlets and JSPs. Since we are not learning how to use IDEs to develop Web Services, and thus, the core framework is very important, I believe.

If you think SCBCD is good, I feel this will be the same as SCDJWS.

Thank you for your input, Nick. Just a note of curiosity, what country do you live in. I noticed that you answered very quickly, I live in the UK, and I think you are in the European time zone since the US hasn't woken up yet and it is very late for Asia.
