RMH Book very tuff

Hi I know Java/J2ee but have no exp in web services. Im reading RMH book for the SCDJWS exam and im finding it very very difficult. Does anybody know of a simpler book which has material relevant for the test?

I think so because it is less detail on XML, and it is more conceptal.

This is actually a tough exam, so you should study hard to pass it.

I would not recommend to skip RMH book - it's very-very good

oh... dont be too short-sighted.

You should learn the basis of Web Services before studying the exam. It might be a bit detail, however, certificate itself does not add any value to you. The real knowledge is much more important than the certificate, and thus, you should gain both certificate and knowledge during the study process.

Mikalai is humbly not telling you that his own guide and quiz are excellent. However, he is right. I had to go through RMH (most of it anyway) before I started leveraging Mikalai's guide and quiz. I still use RMH, but only as reference.
The material around web-services for this exam is substantial and evolving rapidly, this immeturity causes a lot of pain. Regarding RMH, I have had a copy of RMH's Enterprise JavaBeans for the first three editions and he manages to pack a lot of very important information in very few words, therefore, you have to read his material very carefully. At almost 1000 pages, his web-services book is intimidating to say the least (he has the funniest opening sentence in the preface "This book is sharply focused.."). One thousand pages of focused material will tire anyone out. The way I deal with it is I go through the important chapters several times instead of once. For example, make sure that you read and re-read the chapters on XML Schema, SOAP, and WSDL many times since they are the foundational chapters. The more you repeat them, more sense they make. The API stuff discussed in the later chapters is conceptually not that hard to understand, so only read and memorize important methods. This is where Mikalai's guide and quiz shine, they will help you isolate these details. But do not skip the important foundational chapters in RMH, he does a better job of explaining that than anyone else.
