Can anyone clarify whether the web services certification is tied to any specific version of the Web Services devloper kit from Sun? Do we need to work on specific version of the kit in preparation for the exam?

What you need to focus on is the version of the required specifications. It is thus logical to use the one developer kit which uses the same versions of the specifications that are required for this exam.
