I'm planning to set for the SCDJWS exam within the next two months, however I'm wondered if releasing the new Java EE 5 (scheduled for the second half of 2005 or the first quarter of 2006) will cause the exam to be upgraded, thus the SCDJWS 1.4 certification will be outdated quickly..
- How long it takes usually from Sun to upgrade an exam after releasing new SDKs? - I have downloaded the Java BluePrint for webservices, is there any better/recommended resources to prepare for the exam?
Don't worry that's not gonna happen anytime soon. As soon as J2EE 5 will be released, vendors will have to develop a new version of their app server and/or get their existing application server certified. Then, industry has to catch up and only then it will make sense to update the exam. The same goes for the SCBCD certification and EJB 3.0.
You can safely go ahead and take the SCJDWS now... or you can wait at least 12 months for the next version to be released
Thank you Valentin. This is nice to know. Yesterday was my first lesson on Webservices (just read the preface of the blueprint), and I'm planning to focus on webservices for the next few months. I will be visiting this forum constantly.

I’ve looked at a lot of different solutions, and in my humble opinion Aspose is the way to go. Here’s the link: http://aspose.com
