All,
I had an interview the other day where the company was specifically looking for permanent SCJD and SCJA's as Sun now impose a requirement to have a certain number of each at companies trying to become Sun certifies centres.
At last.

I received an email regarding a company looking for "Sun Certified java developers/architects" The comany is "hoping to get Sun Java Accreditation shortly"
One thing I recently learned is SCJA people do not code. I talked to a Sun representative who guides people who do the SCJA teaching course. He is also a SCJA. SCJAs do not code. They are busy doing other things.
Moreover, I wonder if companies would be interested in people who are a "Certified Solution Developer" or "Certified Enterprise Developer" http://java.sun.com/cert-initiative/tracks.html
I suppose it wouldn't help the company make their required quota. Would it?

I don't understand the relevance of this. who said anything about coding?

Exactly.
The certification is only worth what people are willing to pay for it.

I was just shocked that SCJA people did not code. To me, it is a different set of responsibilities that I may not wish to do right now. SCJA is not an advanced form of SCJD. (That was enlightening to me.) However, SCJD could be viewed as an advanced form of SCJP. Just thoughts. (You woke me up with Wakey Wakey. )
Are you saying "Certified Solution Developer" or "Certified Enterprise Developer" is not worth getting at this point from a marketability stance? You could be right. I wonder how we could find out. I also wonder why I do not hear more about "Certified Solution Developer" or "Certified Enterprise Developer" certifications.
hmm.

My guess that we don't hear more about the Sun dolution and Enterprise developer is that few people are interested.
A good point made in a previous posting is that there are an abundance of positions but workers to fill them. If it were the other way round then intereset may increase.
I intend to pursue both of the certifications as opposed to the outdated SCJD, although the very fact that Sun are now putting there weight behind SCJD makes me think twice.
