Hi All!
Are you aware of a new exam called "Sun certified web-component developer for J2EE Platform" ? It is coming up soon.
I feel that those who are preparing for the Architect exam will be able to benefit from this exam.
what do you think?.

According to Sun's site, the test will first be offered at the end of this month. No other real information aside from the price ($150) and the objectives is listed on their site.
Anyone pay for their mock exam yet so someone can tell us what it looks like?

I went to the objective , found it would be right for people working on servlet/jsp. I think some practicle knowledge of jsp/servlet is needed. And for resources www.servletguru.com would be good enough. There plenty of books & material. For Mock exam we could try BRAINBENCH JSP exam. It cost $25, but we do get certified after passing the exam.

Normally, I would ask you to email me, since I think that this is slightly off the topic of the new Sun exam. But... thinking about it for a day, much of the WAS exam was on JSP/Servlets too, actually, so there is some overlap.
For WebSphere, I don't think they've introduced the Version 4 exams yet - I haven't seen them listed at any rate. I think it will be a short while, as people settle into the new version.
For the exam, I largely studied using IBM's Redbooks on WebSphere and practiced with the application. Just like with the SCPJ2 exam, practice seems to help as much as any studying does.
Hope this helps!

Hi all,
I sat the Beta exam at the beginning of the June. The important think to note is that it tests on the new Servlet 2.3 and JSP 1.1 spec's and not on the current versions. I was up to speed on the Servlet spec and most of the JSP spec but not on the Taglib part. How was I to know that there really was a BODY_TAG_BUFFERED return value
The scope is fairly narrow, narrower than the programmers exam and so it shouldn't be too difficult to pass. Of course that's dependent on the pass mark and that's dependant on how I and the other Beta testers did. Unfortunately I don't expect them to tell us the results until the end of August.
Hope this helps
