Consider following scenario
Applet is downloaded from web server behind the firewall having HTTP proxy configration.
Now is it possible for this applet to create database connection across firewall(Assume database is on webserver itself).

Hi,
Why would u want to connect to database from applet? Its not a very good design practise. Instead u should have servlet and give responsibility of connecting to database to the servlet.
As a part of applet security applet can only communicate from the place where its downloaded.
I think , technically speaking you should be able connect to the database server since its on the same physical server as your web server. But how, i may not have answer for you.
Hope it helps...
