Can you use RMI-IIOP in VPN?

If you have a EJB Container behind firewall and you want to access this EJB Container outside the firewall. If you use VPN, can you access the EJB container via RMI-IIOP?
I guess the answer is yes. Can any one confirm?

Your undelying wire protocol can be anything
GIOP/JRMP or T3
But when it comes to firewall, RMI can be yuckkie
But it is possible outside the firewall
