what I mean is that after get the certification, how long does the certification is valid? just like the can food, after several year after it's produced, it will not appropriate for serving.

So far, it seems like the Java certifications are not becoming invalidated. Even after the SCJA was replaced by the SCEA Sun isn't telling any SCJA's that they must upgrade, are they? Any SCJA's know for sure?
I don't know what Sun's future plans are.
I liked your canned food analogy very much.

It is more likely that the technology will move forward and you will want to get certified in a version that includes the newer features. For example, businesses may want to use Message Beans which are covered with the current exam. I don't think they invalidate the certifications that you already have.

I agree. IMHO the SCEA certification is focused on Object Oriented Analysis and Design (UML, Design Patterns, etc.); personally I think that Part II is the most important (and difficult) part of it. I think that OOAD will remain the same for many, many years ;-), so there's no need to invalidate the previous certification just because of the introduction of (e.g.) Message Beans, local interfaces and relations in the latest specification: it takes two days to learn those new features, while it takes months to understant OOAD.
Of course the exam will stay aligned with the latest J2EE specifications, but, in my opinion, that will not invalidate the "certified" status of previous people. Of course it's just my opinion.

I'm a SCJA and doing SCEA mainly for Part II using
J2EE. Sun did not tell me to update.
