J2ee Vs .Net

hi,
This month i am going to give jca exam, i have involved in designing j2ee projects web based as well as application based.

In my company we are now developing projects in .Net framework I am new to .Net. Now I am in a position to design architecture in .Net.
I am familiar with j2ee architecture but i am not familiar with .Net
Some of my friends told me that moving to .Net Technologies is time waste for J2ee developers. I am in confused state.

Anybody could give me some tips.

I would say, you should not feel that it's a wastage of time for a J2EE guy to work in .Net if you are preparing for SCEA and to become an architect. Well, if you want to stay being a J2EE developer, then yes it's a wastage of time. A good architect is NOT the one who suggests to use J2EE all the time. A good architect is the one who recommends the right solution considering lot of factors like the existing technology in the enterprise, the future direction as well as existing skill set etc. To do that you need to know a variety of technologies besides J2EE. So if you are getting to work with .Net consider this as an opportunity to learn MS enterprise technology which will make you a better and impartial architect.

well I think you should stick to J2EE as .net concepts are very different, i suggest to put more efforts in j2ee as j2ee is very vast.

I am going to involve only in architectural designing of .net. implementaion will be done by other team members. I feel that this can be a could experience for me, also i can know the difference between .net and j2ee frameworks . I don't know whether i am right.

I am reading jms from O'reilly book for jms. For scenario based problems where to implement jms 'Mastering EJB2' chapper 8 is good.
