Hello, Great news! Well for me, I found out that I passed parts II and III with 92%. I lost some points on my sequence diagrams but I expected that, they were how shall I put this "rushed". So thanks to everyone who helped me. I'm so happy as this now completes my set of all four Sun Java certs. Advice that I would give to people working on parts II and III is go with your gut instinct. Sun is not expecting the perfect solution so as long as you justify your decisions I'm sure you will be fine. Thank you and good luck Ian
Thanks and congratulations Ian, great score! I am also attempting to complete all 4 certs, but have slowed the process during the Architect study. It's not quite as straightforward as the other 2 exams I've taken, but your example questions have helped tremendously to keep me on track. How long did this entire process take you to complete?

Ian, CONGRATS! Great score. How many days did you have to wait for the score (after Part-3)? Cheers, Arun

Thanks for all the help, Brian it took me about 18 months to do all the Java certs. This hardest thing I found was time management. Arun it took about 5/6 weeks to get the score, in the end I emailed Sun to check my assignment hadn't been lost. Good luck Ian

Congratulations Ian, Great score and I'm sure it was a great design. Did you base it on any of the frameworks for Model2?

Hello Sanjay, Basically I just used the J2EEpatterns book and the SCEA guidebook. The SCEA guidebook offers an idea of the level of detail that Sun is expecting. The J2EE patterns book covers every part of the assignment, you just have to read through the book picking out the useful patterns. Also remember you can make sweeping assumptions e.g. Developers know who to code a GUI so I'm assuming an MVC GUI model but will not be including all classes in the diagrams as this will just clutter them... Good luck Ian

Win the book is Core J2EE Patterns Published by Prentice Hall It's good for this assignment but it only has EJB1.1 in mind so will be out of date soon. Ian

Hi Ian, Couple of quick questions for you - - Did you have to call up Sun before uploading your assignment? - Did the upload go thro' easily? - Did you get any confirmation of the upload from Sun? - Finally did you get confirmation of the results from Sun or did you keep polling their site? Cheers, Arun

Hello Arun, When I tried to upload the assignment I was told I didn't have access and had to call Sun. Sun then changed the access (took about 2 days). The actual upload went fine. A message is displayed when you've uploaded the assignment (This is only displayed when you've uploaded the assignment, just the normal sort when you upload a file via a web browser). And no you just have to keep polling their site to find out your results. Good luck Ian

Hi Ian, Congratulations on your success and great score. You have been a very active contributor to this group and I hope you will at least peep in for some more time to answer some of the queries for other SCEA aspirants. Cheers, Harsh
