Hi all,
After just over 5 weeks wait, I received my part II and III results. I passed with 82%. Not excellent but am still happy to have passed. Here is the break down of my results -
Grade: P
Score: 82
Class Diagram 32/44
Component Diagram 39/44
Sequence/Colloboration Diagrams 11/12
I passed part I with 93%.
The only study guides I used were
Mark Cade's "Sun Certified Enterprose Architect for J2EE technology Study Guide"
and the Blueprint for developping J2EE applications. Although, I have previously read the EJB specifications and the GoF design patterns books along with a few other java books.
I used MagicDraw for the assignment. I found it could do everything I needed it to do but ran very slowly on my machine. Although then I only have 64M ram.
I read several of the old threads in this forum to see other people's comments regarding how to approach the assignment. I found this very useful.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this forum.

Many Congratulations Meg!
Besides the breakup, could you kindly throw some light on the work exp you hold and how much time you think you should have devoted for this exam.

Hello Meg,
Congrats for securing SCEA.I am preparing for it.Do u think Monson-Haefel's EJB 2.0 is sufficient as far EJB scope in Part -I is concerned?
Please let me know your views on this.
Once again congrats!
Cheers

Hi v bodani
With regards to my experience level, I have 8 years experience in IT, predominantly as a senior developer. I have about 3-4 years experience as a java developer and have been involved in architecting a few applications with a team of architects. My experience also spans the Microsoft realm with ASP, VB and COM experience.
Regarding how long one should spend on the assignment, I don't think the quality of the assignment is necessarily related to how long you spent on it. I know that I sometimes had to wait for 20 minutes for some of my diagrams to save!! I probably spent about 40-50 hours on my assignment but I was only spending 1-2 hours a week on it for some weeks. I think I could have finished it faster if I had been able to spend a day or two solidly working on it.
I am thinking that perhaps I lost marks on some of the assumptions I made rather than the actual technicalities of the diagrams.

Hi Yogesh,
Thanks! To be honest, I don't remember Part I very well as I sat it about 5 months ago. I have read the book that you mentioned and it would probably suffice to pass Part I. You do need to be fairly confident with EJBs as it is a major part of Part I and Part II of the certification. Perhaps you could test your knowledge with some of the mock exams that are around. I found these useful in determining which areas I was lacking.
