I just browsed through this forum for the purpose of finding out if there is any one book that is comprehensive enough for all parts of the exam, or at least for part I. I found following two books being referred to by some people : Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Study Guide (Exam 310-051) Paul Allen Joseph J. Bambara Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Study Guide by Mark Cade & Simon Roberts ISBN 0-13-044916-4 I want to ask to all those who are familiar with these books as to which one is better among these two ? I know that architect certification (specially the project) needs knowledge of many topics which may not be covered in any one resource, but with my limited budget I need to decide which book to buy. thanks in advance.

I have heard that the Allen/Bambara book is supposed to be better than the other book, but the problem is that it is not available yet. Amazon.com lists that it should be released on March 7, 2003 (this date has been pushed back several times). I want to buy this book, but alas, I cannot.
Tell me, Mr. Anderson, what good is a phone call when you are unable to speak?

I didn't find the one by Mark Cade et all of any use, I bought it on pre-order and was pretty dissapointed. Think the problem is it's a Sun publication, and they don't want you to buy just one of their books!

Hi Gringo, I found Mark Cade & Simon Roberts: "Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology" great. And before I joined JavaRanch this book was even the only compressed information I could find on J2EE/SCEA exam in the (specialized) bookstore. Thomas.
