What scores should I be getting on the SCEAWhiz mock tests? The one thing I notice about this exam is there are a whole lot less mock exams than for the SCJP. Any thoughts on how I would know I'm ready for the test?

Hi Jim: In my case, I just tried my best. No, there is not lots of mock exams available, but all the information on this site is more than people can handle. And as you memorize them, you also forget the ones you know before. So I think preparing too long is not very good. When do you know you are ready? I know I am ready when I feel sick to memorize all the things.

Well, I'm certainly sick of studying. I have been since September and I think if I read about EJB's one more time, I'm gonna blow chunks. I guess what's so frustrating is that the very thing you mentioned - there is so much material to cover and by the time I finish reading my JMS book and go read about security, I have forgotten some portion of the JMS material. I mean, I just don't do that much I18N work and I don't memorize details like whether or not getBundle() returns the default bundle, etc. Anyway, I haven't scored really high on the SCEAWhiz tests, but I do pass(barely)the first time I take a new test. Unfortunately, when I retake the tests, I score very high, but only because I've seen the questions before.

I've never taken whiz labs test. But I think I took where it came from--. You better being scoring pretty high on it and look at things that are closely similar. It's not a true representation of Sun's exam but it covers similiar materials. Fewer students -> fewer mocks.

I've been reading some threads over here where some people tell about the overstuding for part 1. Is it really necessary read the WHOLE book about JMS ? I don't think so, cos the test is about architecture, not about JMS programming...and so on... The only exception is EJB, because there are between 9 or 10 questions about that... Am I wrong ?

You are right that reading a whole text on JMS is overkill for the SCEA, however, if one intends to be a developer and use EJB's, you better learn JMS - and darned well too. MDB's are not part of the SCEA exam, but just check out the skills required on job postings on Dice or Monster - many of them require experience with MQSeries or SonicMQ. Better to learn JMS really well now than to let it wait until later.
