Hello everybody, Can anyone comment on these two study guides, please? Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Study Guide by Mark Cade, Simon Roberts http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0130449164/qid=1043245733/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/002-8826122-0037606?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Study Guide (Exam 310-051) by Paul Allen, Joseph J. Bambara http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0072226870/qid=1043245733/sr=8-3/ref=sr_8_3/002-8826122-0037606?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 Are these books connected in any way, like one being the successor of the other? I prepared for my programmers exam with the book The Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide: Programmer's and Developers Exams (With CD-ROM) by Simon Roberts, Philip Heller, Michael Ernest http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0782128254/qid=1043245966/sr=5-1/ref=cm_lm_asin/002-8826122-0037606?v=glance and was very pleased with it. I am searching for a good equivalent on the architect exam side. Best regards, Andreas

Hi Andreas, I can recommend Cade's book, especially for Part II. For Part I only the security and protocol sections are worth reading.

I can also recommend Mark Cade's book, primarily for it's discussion on the 'softer issues' i.e. Security, Legacy Integration and J2EE applicability. I don't think the Cade book covers EJB's or the container model in sufficient detail - see Ed Roman's (free) Mastering EJB Edition 2 for these topics. I would have bought Paul Allen's book if it were available - Amazon states that: "This item will be released on March 19, 2003". Has anyone read an advance copy yet? Cheers, Andy
