I checked out your book at lunch today at the book store. It looks very interesting.
Two questions:
1) I am a SCJP and a SCWCD. I do not plan on going for my SCEA. Since the SCEA has three parts, it seems much more time-consuming to get your SCEA than getting the other certs. Also, it looks like it will run me $550 rather than $150 for the other certs. Some employers don't value certification very much, so I feel that I don't get a lot of bang for the buck by getting my SCEA. Do you agree?
2) Although I don't plan to go after my SCEA, there are several topics in your book that interest me. Would it make sense to buy your book anyway, or is the book tailored for people taking the test?

My 2 cents.
1) I agree with you regarding the $550 and $150 issue in my case also.
2) Reading the book should seem positive for EJB learning.

Rick:
I hear your points.
To Ashik uzzaman: thanks for the 2 cents.
IMHO: Besides test prep, the book is also good for interview prep and it is a decent intro/refresher for most J2EE topics.

In fact, in many cases, preparing for the certification is more important to your career than actually passing it. I sometimes think that the best part of the certification process is laying out money which forces you to study for the test. Nothing like having some money on the line to help you focus. But if you don't want to pay for the certifications, I think it is still wothwhile to pretend that you did. Go through the preparation, do a lot of sample tests, work on sample problems. They will go a long way to improving your knowledge and helping you on those interviews.

I Agree with Thomas, even if you are a genious, you have to study in order to pass any exam, so if you are going to pay for it, i think that you will study a lot.
At least, always worked for me.

I don't have energy and time to go through three parts, either. I would like to read the book and build up my knowledge bases. Actually, lots of Java lover don't even have SCJP. But they are good indeed.
