I am at a client site that is thinking about jumping into big-time Java development for some of their core business functions (they're currently legacy applications). Their back-end is Oracle. Since they don't know which direction they want to go (as in: J2SE vs J2EE, EJB, ad nauseum), and are just scratching the surface as far a Java development environment goes, I was suggesting that they seriously think about getting a Java architect in before they hang themselves on big projects. My Q is: if they got a SCEA in for 3-6 months, what kind of business documents are required by such people? And in what detail? And what should the company expect to get in the end? Could it easily be passed to a senior Java developer, who could then initiate the project/sub-projects? Or is a senior Java developer analogous to a SCEA? Thanks.
r haynes, if i understand your question(s) correctly, you'd like to know: q1. is senior java programmer the same as scea. a1. possibly...however, much depends or how you define 'senior java programmer' and the programmers individual job experience. generally speaking , most scea will have at least 2-4 years of development experience. q2. what type of documentation should the scea produce. a2. again, it varies or such factors as size, complexity, time, money, resources, etc... here is a link to a site which provides standard documentation that must be produced to the state of florida for outsourced IT development. http://www.myflorida.com/myflorida/sto/isdm/ hth, peter parker

Hi, Typically as an architect you should provide few things in your documents mandatory to make it understandable to next levels of people. This is a different kind of practice architect should be aware of. We are releasing a SCEA products which will not only assure your success in the exam but will ensure your high marks. As a byproduct you'll also know the Architecting practice in real life staring from proper documentations to different kind of diagrams, different aspects you should consider during architecting. Have look into our url www.arcpatterns.com/products.html which may help you. Regards, Arc2Patterns Team
