Hi Could anyone tell me which version of EJB is to be used while architecting the SCEA problem. I would be surprised if the version is any lesser than EJB2.0 Please advise Thanks Dinesh

The SCEA has the EJB 1.0 in its target. So in my opinion, this certification is totally useless without integrating EJB2.0

I believe the exam is based on J2EE 1.2, which includes EJB 1.1

I think that depends on where you think the certification is targetted. If it was targetted at developers, then you could be right. But then developers are catered for with the SCBCD (congratulations on getting that by the way). Since this certificate is designed for architects, I don't think we loose much in having questions from the older version of EJB - certainly I didn't notice any questions on the exam for which the answers would be different for later versions of EJB. Hopefully soon we will see the new SCEA for J2EE 1.4, and then your concerns will be addressed. Regards, Andrew

I learned a lot while preparing for SCJP & SCJD. And I believe that certification helps to learn.

Soon . Since one year this message I am reading in this forum.

Ok, thanks Andrew for the details. That's certain that the EJB version is not the big matter for the SCEA certif, as long as it is not prejudicial for the design part of the certification. Think about this : in the Sun old book "Core J2EE patterns" (Deepak Alur), the 2001 version, their advice is to use EJB entity BMP better than CMP, which is totally wrong today...

This depends on how mature the OR mapping tools are in current situation. Regards, Ganapathy,S

I thought of using Local Interfaces and justify their usage .. Seems like I have to stick to remote interfaces as EJB2.0 is not allowed

Surely EJB 2.0 is allowed. Just document it! Roger
