Hi,all

I planed to take the SCEA exam. A few days ago ,I browsed the sun website to make a knowledge about the exam types in phase one.I have some doubts in SCEA exam I as folows :
1.what does exam type of drag and drop means? Is it also the type
of multiple choices? Can someone make a sample of it to me?
2.In the multiple choices,if that is only one answer is correct, that the
choices are markup by radio button, and if that is more than one answer
is correct, the choices are markup by rectangle button.Does it say when
you take one question it's choices are markup by rectangle button, the
correct answer must be more than one?
3.I really don't know if the correct answers are more than one,
whether the question will prompt you how many answers are
correct (e.g. choose two or choose three) or not.
4.Another exam type in phase 1 is short answer.I want to konw how many
questions about it occurs in the exam? when you answer the question,
whether you could use only one or two words (special words e.g. rmi, iiop, security)

own thanks in advance.

Hi Jacky,
Welcome to JavaRanch.

1.what does exam type of drag and drop means? Is it also the type
of multiple choices? Can someone make a sample of it to me?

As far as I know, drag and drop only applies to SCBCD. There should be no drag and drop questions in the SCEA exam.
(When the new SCEA exam, or J2ME, or new SCWCD exams come out (not in that order, and no idea when) then they may also have drag and drop questions)
In the JavaRanch review of Whizlabs' SCBCD Exam Simulator I included a screenshot of one of their drag and drop questions. In the screenshot you can no longer see the question, but to answer it you have to drag the answers from the right hand side of the screen to the places for them in the left hand side of the screen. The Whizlabs' drag and drop questions are not in exactly the same format as the real drag and drop questions, but it is a very good simultation, and should give you some ideas of what it is.

If there is only a single answer, you normally get radio buttons so that you can only pick one answer.
In the multiple choice questions you are told exactly how many right answers there are, and the exam software stops you from selecting more than the right number of answers.

4.Another exam type in phase 1 is short answer.I want to konw how many
questions about it occurs in the exam? when you answer the question,
whether you could use only one or two words (special words e.g. rmi, iiop, security)

From memory I think there were about 5 or 6 short answer questions - so nearly 10%. Usually the questions require you to type a single word.

thanks Andrew .
And I still have other doubts to consult you.
1.For each multiple choice qustion in SCEA phase 1,are there only four
answers for me to choose?
2.The questions require you to type a single word ,is the single
word a jargoon(e.g. scalability,RMI-JRMP,port-filtering)?
By the way ,when did you pass the SCEA phase 1,thanks a lot.

Hi Jacky,

1.For each multiple choice qustion in SCEA phase 1,are there only four
answers for me to choose?

To be honest, I don't remember. I have a vague recollection of questions that require you to pick 3 correct answers, and I think such questions were out of six possible answers. But I could be confusing the exam with a mock exam.

2.The questions require you to type a single word ,is the single
word a jargoon(e.g. scalability,RMI-JRMP,port-filtering)?

Usually yes.

By the way ,when did you pass the SCEA phase 1,thanks a lot.

Late September or early October this year.

Hi Andrew,
You said that you could be confusing the exam with a mock exam.what
do you mean? which aspects of exam made you confusing with a mock exam?
difficulty, the number of answers,or you found the questions in the exam
occurs in a mock exam ?
Thanks.

Hi Jacky,
Your question was whether there were only four possible choices on a multi choice question. I know I have answered questions with more than four possible choices, but I honestly don't remember whether they were on the real exam or on a multi choice exam.

Thanks Andrew,Maybe you misunderstood my meaning of the messege I mentioned previously. As I do not understand the meaning of "confusing the exam with a mock exam" you said. So I want to consult you which aspests made you confusing the real exam with a mock exam.
(you mentioned the mock exam).
Thanks again.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
