SCEA Part 1 Questions

Hi to all,
question 1: What is the best book about EJBs to prepare SCEA exam, "Mastering Enterprise Beans" by Ed Roman, or "Enterprise Java Beans" by Richard Monson?
I have Monson�s book because there is a free pdf version, and also the EJB 1.1 specification from SUN.
Is it recommended I buy monson�s book?
question 2: I know the ejb spec version for SCEA is 1.1, but ... Is there any question about the differences between spec 1.1 and 1.0?

Monson's 4th edition will be out soon. If you buy the 3rd edition, it will not be worth the investment. Why not take a good read of his "beta chapters" at TheServerSide website. Think only the last 4 chapters outstanding. Those already there are very good enough in my opinion.

,not monson�s book, and i have the doubt about to buy monson�s book 2nd edition, because i think this edition covers EJB 1.1, and it shows the differences between 1.1 spec and 1.0 spec.
i�m working developing and designing applications for the version 1.3 of J2EE, including ejb 2.0, so i know the main concepts about ejb, like types of beans, callback methods, transaction support, etc..., and i�m only looking for a book to learn the specific features of ejb 1.1, because this is the version included in the certification exam.

I spotted your typos, The Server Side has both Ed Romans and Monson book. Monson 4th edition is under public review at the link given. It covers EJB 2.0 and 2.1 of J2EE 1.4. Sometimes, he will mention about EJB 1.1. Throughout his chapters, Monson distinguishes which is 2.0 and which is 2.1.
Monson's EJB Book
1st Edition - EJB 1.0
2nd Edition - EJB 1.1 & 1.0 <--- Out of print
3rd Edition - EJB 2.0 <--- Currently at the bookstores
4th Edition - EJB 2.0 & 2.1 <--- Beta at theserverside. Download!
Don't think you could buy a copy of his 2nd Edition, since it is out of print.
A quick question, you mean SCEA tests on EJB 1.1? Oh no!

I highly recommend Monson's EJB Book. IMHO, having study from both
books, Monson's book is more along the line of Part-I exam.
You need the 3rd Edition (it is a must) if you are still interested in
getting the 2nd Edition I could sell you my own copy of the book
along with other books and notes.
Wrt question two, I don't recall any question on EJB 1.0. Most of the
question are EJB 2.0 and I think there is a few on EJB 1.1

Hi everyone,
From memory, all the questions I saw were from the 1.1 specification. Knowing a later specification (In my humble opinion) would not harm anybody, since the questions/answers are still the same in the newer specifications - the only thing was that there were no questions that required knowledge of the new specifications.
