I plan to try this certification. Since there will be a update of the exam, I'm not sure whether it's the good time to register now.
Any suggestion?

Hi Porky,
The alternative to this question (when is the new exam coming out) seems to crop up in this forum at least once a week.
Basically no one in this forum knows when the new exam is coming out.
If I had to hazard a guess, then I might guess that the earliest a new beta exam will come out is in 4 or 5 months time. And the earliest the real exam would be 3 or 4 months after that. But these are just guesses about when I think the earliest timeframes could be.
So if you really want to only do the new exam, and you don't want to do the beta exam (which takes about 3 times longer than a normal exam and takes several months to get your result), then sure, wait for the new exam to be released - but you could be waiting well over half a year or longer.
Or you could do the current exam today, and become a SCEA. Which won't change even if Sun do bring out a new exam .
Regards, Andrew

I think that the biggest part of subjects of the (current) SCEA exam will be in the next exam...
I think that the differences will be in the EJB subject (update to 2.0) and legacy connectivity (JCA will be in the new exam)... Maybe more about web services will be in the test too...
Maybe the latest UML specification too...
But I think that study and pass in the SCEA won't be a waste of time... In fact, I think it will be a greater advantage to pass in the current SCEA exam... It will be easier to pass in the new exam if you have the background of the old exam...
My two cents!
:-)
Bye

Thanks, guys
Your suggestion is very important to me, and I'm quite appreciated it. I decide to register next week.
Thanks, again
