Hi all.
there is something I understand it.
why SCEA doesn't require the SCJP ???
SCEA is the "biggest" certification for Java , how the architect could design application using Java Platform, and sun doesn't require he should know Java ??

You don't need the programmer cert?
My guess is that the SCJP is more of a 'developer' certification than an 'architect' one, and that they're more looking at your ability to design rather than code... but that's just a guess. We'd have to get someone in the know to answer more fully.
[edited to clarify my wording]

SUN Certification track is slightly different i guess.
IBM Certified Enterprise Developer for Websphere Studio is a more complete certification track (than SCEA) which tests various components.
The only thing it lacks is probably an assignment!

My 2 cents

SCJP not being a pre-requisite does not mean anything. I don't think someone with no Java knowledge can pass the SCEA test. Sure, a novice Java programmer can still cram test notes and get certified as an architect. But in real life, the proof is in the pudding, not in that piece of paper that pronounces you as a certified J2EE architect. I haven't seen many "hands-off" architects my self who just draw pictures.

I don't understand why any certification is pre requisite for any exam. I passed SCBCD two months back withtout any prior certification. Now I'm going for SCEA next month. All these condition based certification is nothing else but means to mint money for Sun Inc - an otherwise financially troubled company.

They let you take scbcd without scjp?

SCJP (1.4), SCJD (1.4), SCWCD (1.3), SCBCD (1.3)
I agree. Here's the link:
