Hi,

Any recommendations on which book will be better for SCEA study materials?

Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Study Guide
by Paul Allen (Author), Joseph Bambara (Author)

Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Study Guide
by Mark Cade (Author), Simon Roberts (Author) today

Thanks a lot.

regards,
Michael

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. When I looked thru the book by Mark Cade, each chapter explains in very high level. Is it sufficient? As this book also contains only 100+ pages. Can you describe some of the mistakes in the other book? Thanks.

Michael

You may want to read my reviews for both these books in the "Book Reviews" forum.

Hi Ajith,

I was quite intereted in purchasing the book by Mark Cade and Simon Roberts (Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology Study Guide), but was taken back when I found out that it contains over only 100 pages and covers at a very high level. I would like some opinions before buying book, on whether it'll be sufficient (apart from other notes from the net) for the exam. Is there a similar book written by the same authors but different publishers as I came across a forum here, mentioning the book contains over 400 pages instead? Confused.

Michael

You're right that the Study Guide is insufficient. I would guess that the Allen book is much better, but in either case you will need an additional EJB, Patterns, and perhaps a UML book (though the Cade book was enough for me for part 2). I posted my reading list in a recent post.

The Allen/Bambara book may be of use if you already know a lot about J2EE. Otherwise, you may not recognize the errors in the book.

I like the Cade/Roberts book and the information available through Sun.
