What is the differents betwween the architect and the desiner, as far as the software industry is concerned? Thank you very much.

Architect must be a designer,but designer needn't be an architect.

In my opnions, architect design the whole product architecture, he/she is away from implementation detail, whereas designer design some part of the product, he/she get arthitecture design from architect and break it down to detail.
