Do you consider hibernate J2EE technology?

I really can not recommend Entity bean.

Plain JDBC works just fine.

No, it is not a J2EE technology since its implementation is not based on the standard J2EE spec. It might leverage on some of the J2EE platform features. It belongs to the same category as Struts, Cactus etc. They are frameworks as opposed to components of the J2EE platform.

Unfortunately you just aim at certification as java enterprise architect so you should stick with their technology. Or would you like to provide a bea examiner with a jboss solution?

Not until we have EJB 3.0 (entity beans) out which I heard is what hibernate is now (maybe even better)!
