I have around 1.5 years experience in java and the related technologies. I am taking SCBCD next month. And I thought I would take SCEA after that. But I found this in Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Study Guide book authored by Paul Allen and Joseph Bambara

"The SCEA for J2EE exam tests the concepts youve gained as a professional architect. These concepts are typically gained in a career that spans 10 or more years."

I skimmed through the TOC and I found that I have hands-on experience on almost all of them. Or would it be too early for me give such exam? Could anyone suggest me some exams that are quite general like UML rather than some language/technology specific?

thanks
Aravind

Only you can answer that question. I've seen people who were better in a couple of years than people who have been doing this job for over 15 years. Everyone is different. Everyone progresses a at different rate, and some people are just better suited to this sort of work than others. If I were you, I'd see if I could locate a mock exam and take it to help guage where you're knowledge level is on various subjects and whether you're ready to try for the certification.
