Hi Ranchers, I cleared Part 1 test with 90% Thanks a lot to all of you in this group, you all have been of great help! I studied most of the notes posted in this forum along with some stuff I found on the various yahoo! groups (like Ramu's Notes) also posted here. I also read Cades book which gives you a nice overview but doesn't cover all of the topics and Bambaras (spelling?) book. I also read "Head First EJB" several times (great book!) and the classic GoF book. Further I worked with whizlabs mock simulator which is kind of similar to the real thing. The breakdown of questions per topic that can be found in this forum is also pretty accurate. It gives you a feeling of the distribution of questions amongst the various topics. Be prepared for quit a bunch of scenario questions with some lengthy text in the quiestion itself but also in the answers. Anyway, if you have any detailed question please let me know and I am more than happy to help. D. [ June 01, 2005: Message edited by: David Follow ]

Congrats David. Regarding the exam, how difficult is it... when compared to other developer exams like (SCWCD, SCBCD etc.. )? Are the quetions pretty straight forward, or seems tricky ? Was the allocated time enough to answer all the questions and review it a second time ? Which topic was more frequently asked and which one was the most difficult one ?

It has been a while since I took the SCJP but the SCEA questions are more focused on conceptual issues and like I stated above, you'll get quit a lot of scenario question. e.g. they will describe you a certain problem and you'll have to pick the most appropriate architecture, and so on. Time wise, I thought it was kind of tight because of the lengthy question you will have to read through. At the end I got about 10 minutes left to review some of the questions I have marked for review. I guess EJB and EJB Container Model where to most questions on. There was also a good bunch on Common Architecture and at least four on design patterns. There were exactly 2 questions on i18n and two on security. I also got a couple of questions that involved applets but more like in a sence of a scenario question and not a simple "what is an applet for" kind of question. D.

Hi David, How close were WhizLib Mock Tests to the real exam. What helped you most with the EJB Questions. Was Ramu Meda's Notes helpful with EJB questions also. Thanks, Meenakshi

I posted a rather lengthy answer, but somehow it got lost. Anyway' I'll write it again. Whizlab is kind of close to the real thing although the wording in the real exam is a bit different and confusing and it forces you to read the question several times which costs you some extra time. The questions on JavaQueries.com are also very similar to Whilzlabs questions, so that's a good and free (!) alternative. You will get most of the questions on EJBs. So make sure you know your EJB stuff. I read "Head First EJB" several times and it realy helped. You will not be questioned on EJB1.1 specific issues. It is all very concentual. Ramu's notes is a nice compilation but I advice you to read some of the other study notes posted in this forum and on those yahoo! groups. Good luck! D.
