Which of the following are true about SSL?

a. SSL facilitates secure communication
b. SSL is a high level protocol and sits on top of HTTP
c. SSL is a low level protocol and sits below HTTP
d. SSL works only with HTTP

The answer given is a,b

From Paul and Joseph's book (page 532), it says protocols such as HTTP and FTP can transparently execute on top of it. In that case, answer c should be right

Maybe it is a grammatical issue... because when you are going to enable SSL, you need a HTTP working, so SSL is over HTTP, or I'm confused too?

By the way SSL works with FTP? I would like to test it.

When one says "HTTP over SSL" HTTPS is really meant. So as far I am concerned HTTP sits on top of SSL.

The correct answers are a and c. Therefore, you are right and the answer given as a and b is wrong.
