Hi,

What are some good books or other resources for SCEA ?

Two books that I have heard about are:

Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Technology
Mark Cade, Simon Roberts
(I read a review at Java ranch that this book doesn't cover some of the topics required for the exams ?)

Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for J2EE Study Guide (Exam 310-051)
Paul R. Allen, Joseph J. Bambara
(Reviews for this book on Amazon are really bad...)

Neither of the above options seem very promising. Anyone have an alternative opinion about these two books ? or Can recommend some other resources for SCEA ?

thanks,

J.C

Hi James,

I think these books are enough to get through Part I. I skimmed the Paul Allen book in a few days and spent about a week going through the Cade book which really helped.

There are many websites that offer mock Part I exams. I did lots of these until my pass rate was consistently in the 80%+ range.

I also played around with some of the API's in IntelliJ after I hunted down some plugins to save me the low level drudgery-i just wanted to get an idea of how these APIs work and personally stepping through a bit of code helps me.

In all, I put in around 3 weeks effort and passed with 93%. It's really not that hard. Part II requires more effort and so far Cade has been the only resource i've found useful. I've found this website to be quite good for Searching out information but sadly it seems you won't get a response to a question unless you post under an Indian name.

Hope this helps,
Paul

Thanks, brownie. It's a very disapointed that this forum is just for indian. We should not have racialism.
